Terms of Service

By using the Codebreakers activity or website you agree to these terms, to our Privacy Policy, and to Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

• You must meet Discord's minimum age for your country.
• You can sign in with Discord or Google, or play as a guest. Guest accounts are temporary and deleted after a day, and each network can only create a limited number of them per day.
• You're responsible for what happens on your account.

18+ word packs are for adults only. You can only see them after confirming you're 18 or older and opting in. Players who haven't opted in see hidden words, can only spectate, and don't see the room's chat.

Please don't:

• Use custom words, clues, drawings, nicknames or team names to harass, threaten or demean anyone.
• Post hateful, illegal or sexual content involving minors. This leads to a permanent ban and may be reported.
• Cheat with bots or scripts, exploit bugs, or try to see another team's key.
• Try to access other people's data, overload the servers, or get around rate limits and bans.
• Impersonate other players, moderators or the developers.

Room hosts can move, remove and ban players, including people asking to join. Removed players can only come back as spectators; banned players can't rejoin (or ask to) unless the host unbans them. Hosts decide who gets into request-to-join rooms, and someone who's declined has to wait 20 seconds before asking again. Discord server moderators can't be removed by a host who isn't one. We may remove content, restrict features or block access for anyone who breaks these terms.

You keep the rights to what you create (custom words, clues, drawings, names). You let us store and show it to the people in your room so the game works. Custom text passes through a filter (custom words have to suit the room's rating, so no swearing in family-friendly rooms), but you remain responsible for it.

Hosts choose who can join: request to join (people ask and the host accepts or declines), public (anyone can join) or invite only (code or link needed). Hosts can also turn guests away, limit the room size and ban people. Share codes only with people you want to play with. Rooms close automatically once everyone has left.

Codebreakers is free. Supporting it is optional. Paid options, such as Priority Support, are services provided in our Discord support server and never unlock anything in the game: it plays the same for everyone. Payments are processed by Polar under their terms. For refunds, cancellations or billing questions, ask in the support server.

This is a fan project run in our spare time. Features may change, and the service may be interrupted or shut down at any time. Live games can be lost during updates.

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost data, stats or games.

Codenames is a trademark of Czech Games Edition. Codebreakers is an independent game inspired by it and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Czech Games Edition or Discord.

You can stop using the service and delete all of your data any time under Profile & Privacy. Accounts that haven't been used for 12 months are deleted automatically, stats included. We may suspend access for breaking these terms.

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and announce meaningful changes in the support server. Continuing to play means you accept the new terms.
