Quick answers to the questions we hear most.
Is it free?
Yes, completely. If you enjoy it you can support development, but it doesn't unlock anything.
Is this the official Codenames?
No. Codebreakers is an independent game inspired by Codenames by Czech Games Edition, and isn't affiliated with them.
Can Discord and browser players play together?
Yes. Share the room code or invite link and browser players join the same game (in request-to-join rooms they ask first, and the host lets them in).
Do I need an account to play in a browser?
No. Sign in with Discord or Google to keep your stats, or play as a guest. Guests are never tracked (no stats, no history) and the guest account is deleted after a day. Accounts nobody has used for a year are deleted too.
Why is someone glowing green?
They're talking in the voice channel. Only that someone is talking is used, never any audio. You can turn it off for yourself under Profile & Privacy → “Show when I'm talking”.
How many players do I need?
Two for Duet or Sudden Death, four for Classic, Blitz, Double Agent and Pictures, six for Three Teams. Extra people can always spectate.
Do my stats count?
Finished games (not ones the host ends early) count towards your stats and leaderboards. A Discord server's leaderboard only lists its members. You can opt out or hide yourself from leaderboards any time. Guests are never tracked.
Can I delete my data?
Yes: Profile & Privacy → Delete my data removes everything immediately. You can also download it first. Details in the Privacy Policy.
The game says the room is gone
Rooms close when everyone leaves, when the host closes them, or after an hour of inactivity. Create a new one from the home page.
